However the attending nurse, Paul Makotamo said he was not on duty and had no Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) so he couldn’t assist herm

Makotamo then told Chimwenja to go to Sakubva Hospital for assistance, as he couldn’t help her without putting his life at risk.

A desperate Chimwenja who had been accompanied by her neighbour Annah Matambu, pleaded with the nurse in vain.
They decided to call the Ward 19 Councillor Gondai Mutambanashe, for assistance but it was too late as Chimwenje delivered the baby just a few moments later.

Makotamo then ran outside to the veranda to assist her and cut the baby’s umbilical cord.

He finally allowed the new mother and her baby to sleep at the clinic.
